10:50 pm - What Do You Have To Say? - Small Business: Advice to Entrepreneurs
What advice would you give to people who are starting their own business?

Be focused. If you're a lazy person by nature, having your own business is not for you. Be prepared for the long hours. Make sure you're doing something you love. Don't give up at the first sign of hardship. If part of your business consists on Net30 make it clear to clients on your invoice you'll be charging 10% extra if not paid on time. In a small business NO ONE ever pays on time. Always make sure you have a contract. Keep files and paperwork well organized.
Don't over extend yourself. Be prepared to understand that paperwork will take half your time.
Have fun and learn from your mistakes!!
I'm too tired to think of any others.

1:25 pm - My vida Loca
You were right Carly...my screenname should be Loca. If Saturday is any indication. So it was Ryan's 23rd birthday and I was so excited to get out and let loose. Let's be honest here, I needed it! So off we went to party after watching UCLA beat LSU and become a final 2!! Go Bruins! Anyway, off we went to Joseph's Cafe on Ivar. There we were all 18 of us having the time of our lives and being good ol' adults (enjoying ourselves without getting wasted or arguing with one another). Suddenly in the middle of a great dance move I think, whilst simutaneously showing off my multi-tasking skills by carrying a conversation with Kendall and Kristy I hear this loud ass noise like a bomb exploded. Next thing I know I'm in an ambulance with 3 hot men surrounding me. Sounds like heaven huh? Not exactly. Turns out a fight broke out in one side of the room and me, because its always me, being at the wrong place at the wrong time got hit on the head by a flying bottle. Which surprisingly didn't cut through (although I did get battle wounds from shattered glass on other parts of my body).
The story goes that I passed out (which is not new for me) but surprisingly find out the next day that I convulsed on the floor...something I've never done in my life. I had some sort of seizure. So weird. So today, Monday, I feel better, not as uncoordinated as yesterday and can now answer normal questions such as my name (Isandra), date (april 3rd and not March 1900 as I apparently said when first asked). Pretty proud of that btw. But my body feels like someone punched it all over. I'm walking like an old lady and in dire need of medication. I declined going to the hospital which on hindsight may have been stupid, but given my history with hospitals and the rate of friends and families that die after going there, I should be excused for the stupidity.
Anyway, no worries...I'm a strong chick and apparently highly dramatic or as Mark the paramedic said: a Feisty Latin.

Oh yes, and I closed a club down early. Go Isa!

I want my mommy.

current mood: and feeling old.

8:19 pm - It's not that I haven't updated
It's that I've made my journal private. I don't mind friends reading so if you're interested just drop me a comment and I'll add you. I just didn't want certain people to have an inside view on my private life without my authorization.

Does that make sense?

Makes sense to me!

Gosh I'm a retard.

Dear Tech Support:

Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed
a slowdown in the performance of the flower and jewelry
applications that had operated flawlessly under the Boyfriend 5.0
system. In addition, Husband 1.0 un-installed many other valuable
programs, such as Romance 9.9, but installed undesirable programs
such as NFL 7.4, NBA 3.2 and NHL 4.1. Conversation 8.0 also no
longer runs and Housecleaning 2.6 simply crashes the system. I've
tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems, but to no avail.
What can I do?

Desperate

*******************
Dear Desperate,

First, keep in mind that Boyfriend 5.0 was an entertainment
package, while Husband 1.0 is an operating system. Try to enter the
command C:/ITHOUGHTYOULOVEDME and install Tears 6.2. Husband 1.0
should then automatically run the applications Guilt 3.3 and
Flowers 7.5. But remember, overuse can cause Husband 1.0 to default
to such background applications as Grumpy Silence 2.5, Happy Hour
7.0, or Beer 6.1. Please remember that Beer 6.1 is a very bad
program that will create SnoringLoudly.WAV files.

DO NOT install Mother-In-Law 1.0 or reinstall another Boyfriend
program. These are not supported applications and will crash
Husband 1.0. They could also potentially cause Husband 1.0 to
default to the program: Girlfriend 9.2, which runs in the
background and has been known to introduce potentially serious
viruses into the Operating System.

In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have a
limited memory and can't learn new applications quickly. You might
consider buying additional software to enhance his system
performance. I personally recommend Hot Food 3.0 and Single Malt
Scotch 4.5 combined with such applications as that old stand-by
Lingerie 6.9 (which has been credited with improved performance of
his hardware).

Good Luck. Tech Support

9:50 am - Latin Grammy's
Can we say this was the worst event in the history of events? I'm Latin and not even I could keep awake during this boring ceremony. So Marc Anthony was ok. That was expected. Celia won an award. About darn time. But what kind of performances were those? Whoever told

Shakira to sing that boring ass song live? I mean, don't get me wrong I love the song, but to hear it alone while getting drunk in my house not to see her perform it! And she was supposed to be the strong performer of the evening! Not to mention that stupid rabbit shit she had on top of her.

Thalía- WHAT THE FUCK??? First she was COMPLETELY off tune. She was singing to another beat altogether...and explain to me that monstruosity of a skirt? Goodness gracious can we say tacky? Thank God she did that Salsa remix. Gotta give it to her though, she looked absolutely stunning. That woman is beyond beautiful but her performance was lacking... she should at least have brought some dancers or something.

Alejandro Sanz- I LOVE THAT MAN w/ all my heart. Yes I do. BUT MY FACKINGING GOD WHY DID HE HAVE TO GO AND SING THAT LAME SHIT PIECE OF SONG? What song was that? En mi vida! That's when I went to sleep.

Portuguese segment- I don't even know who they were, but they sucked. My theory is that whoever produced the awards needed to include Bossa Nova music and picked the first two weirdos they found and put them on stage. That woman was our Sharon Osbourne wannabe. ;o) Anyway, not even Frank Sinatra himself could have made that segment interesting for me.

Alejandro & Vicente- Now that was awesome. Vicente can still sing and thank the lord Alejandro shaved already. He's such a cutie pie and I loved when his father won and they kissed... awww how cute..and then he was trying to see from the backstage area and hiding behind the wall... so cute.

Celia Cruz- Only Celia could have gone out there, perform the best salsa of the year and fuck it up completely. WHAT THE??? And what the heck were those stupid dancers dancing?!!! At least the rapping was good... Would have been better if Ludacris would have rapped instead... heeehee

Gloria Estefan & Jimmy Smits- Couldn't they put a box under her? My head was bent sideways just to be able to adjust to their imbalance. That short ass woman w/ that tall ass man presenting together... pfff.. She was ok as a presenter but I still hate her...not to mention her nasty husband. One word: PFFF!!!

Daisy Fuentes- Damn she's lost weight.. I'm so buying the Pilates tapes.

Justin Timberlake & Nick Carter- If you're not going to have them sing don't bring them just to present... HOW ANNOYING! I would have rather seen the two of them performing than those lame ass portugueses. Definitely a waste of great talent. (mostly in Justin's case)

Santana & POD- Haven't I heard that tune before? It sounded familiar. The song sucks. POD could sing much better. Santana is still awesome. The man can play. (It was a good performance) but let's leave it clear that he did NOT pave the way for Maná, I'd say it was the other way around in the Latin market. Santana was very unimportant in our market until he recorded w/ Maná... we did know who he was and respected him but he was certainly not played in radio nor was he as popular as Maná has been for years!

Jennifer Love Hewitt- Pure elegance. That girl is just too cute. When they asked her what why was she there being that she's not Latin and she said: "I have an obsession with everything Latin. When I'm home I pretend I'm Latin". Lol. Too cute.

Latin Women***actually, Latin People & Dresses- Some people were just dressed absolutely horrible and tacky. Gosh people, dejen la naqueria! Whatever was Paul Rodriguez wearing? And Carlos Vives...what was that? Where the heck did he get that from? Do they actually sell shit that nasty? And those girls presenting (I don't even know their names because contrary to popular belief half the people that were presenting there are hardly known in the Latin market), were tacky as shit. Not to mention that red little number Gloria was wearing that was nice in the top but had some type of fabric imperfection in the middle of her crotch that made it absolutely hineous.

Juanes & Nelly Furtado- Speak about performance. She was allright. Not the strongest performance but definitely worth watching. I would have rather have them sing "Fotografías" but they are singing that in the MTV Latinos so I guess that was ok, but "A Dios Le Pido" is an awesome song. Juanes is absolutely amazing..the man rocks. I do not like his hair that way. The spikes looked better but he's just fine in any way. He thanked Dania!!! how cute...loved it, loved it, loved it. (about time someone thanked her! HINT HINT E)

Carlos Vives- Outfit aside, his performance was definitely the best performance of the night! Cannot wait for his concert! Did you see how cute his kid look acting? awwww... And that girl from Rush Hour can dance! AMAZING! Now, that's a performance that showed who we are.

Thumbs up:
To Colombia and the singers that kept dedicating awards to them.
To everyone speaking Spanish.
To the network for allowing Spanish commercials.
To Doritos for having Enrique on their commercial.
To Juanes..just for *sigh* being there.

Thumbs down:
To Enrique for releasing an album this week and not making an appearance at the Grammy's to support it.
To Sissi for just being there. Trashy whore.
To the audience (the .5 million) for wasting 2 hours of their lives.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE:

For those of you that are not Latin and did watch, DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT, take that event as a portrayal of our culture. We are alot more lively and our talent is much better... That was just plain horrible. Think of it as going to see U2 perform and getting Ashanti instead.

current mood: disappointed

3:27 pm - MTV MUSIC AWARDS!!!
They are finally here!!!

yay!!!

Performances I'm looking forward to:

Justin Timberlake (Oh, but of course!!!)
Eminem (need I explain?)
Avril Lavigne (Hopefully I'll make it home on time)

I am looking forward to Ja Rule MINUS Ashanti... The girl has no stage presence whatsoever.

They should have put Mary J. on this year...now that's the queen of hip hop.

Tomorrow I'll write my reviews...haha...

Adri and Alexia forbade me to call them during the show. pfff!! Just because I told them Michael Jackson was on w/ Nsync last year. But how was I supposed to keep such important happenings to myself! I had to share! It is not my fault they get the show 3 hours later!! pfff!!

Anyway, tonight I'll disconnect my phones and wait for the awards to end in the West Coast...

yay!!! 3 1/2 hours till showtime!

I'll put my Michael pic... just to commemorate his appearance last year...

I just finished eating the most exquisite sushi ever from Giacomo's. I love having a steady income to afford my sushi obsession. It was also Terry's birthday today (a co-worker) and they got her the most magnificent strawberries & cream cake you can imagine. Gosh, I love lawyers.

lol

Other than that, nothing major.

6:58 pm - Only in Miami
Ok so check this out...

This group from FIU (Florida Intl University)traveled to California for a Judo competition and supposedly they were in a gas station there and this man tried to steal their car so this group of 7 overpowered the man and were able to basically save the day.

I heard this story in my lunch hour, on my way to work in 2 different radio station, and now at home in each of the news programs.

My question is, what's the big deal? You don't need to be a judo expert to overtake a guy when you're 7 against 1!
They should feel ashamed to even say that. By being judo experts one of them should have been able to do the job.

I swear, only in Miami

3:00 pm - Ok
So I finally got something to do. One of the girls here got in trouble for not teaching me her job. (Our boss was out all week and we did absolutely nothing and she left early every day that week and he came in today and he asks if I learned everything already, I'm like yes I think I have, then he goes so how would you do this, and I'm like I'm sorry but we haven't gone through that yet, and he went all crazy on this girl for not teaching me last week and waiting until he came in...can I tell you my boss can scream? that should be interesting when I'm PMSing and he starts yelling at me)

Anywho... I'm bored once again...I finished what they gave me... Decided to listen to TRL radio. Great music today.

11:20 am - Music obsession
I have been obsessed with these two songs... So I figured I post them here for your enjoyment...

This one is the best bachata ever...and you all know I hate bachatas (eventhough I'm Dominican) but this one is wayyy too good... BTW the singer is Aventura.

Eso No es AmorCollapse )

By the way it's not misspelled, a Dominican sings it so he cuts off all the words, part of the way we speak Spanish...heehee...

Ah fuck... I wanted to post Jerry Rivera's.. but now I can't find it..so enjoy this one first and I'll put the other one up later today..

2:39 pm - I love my job
So I've been calling INS (Immigration) and been on hold for about 1 hour and 20 minutes now... and one of the lawyer passes and asks me who's on hold... I say well I am, I'm calling INS to find out where to do my change of address so I'm not deported, and she says, well you should have asked me and you wouldn't be on hold for so long....then she gave me the forms to fill out and sent them for me. Of course I thanked her profusely and she was like, listen girl, you work at a lawyer's office. There are 5 lawyers here that do everything from real state to criminal cases and everything in between, take advantage. *sigh* The perks of working with lawyers.
lol.
